Just few Kilometres far from Villa Maria you can find LUCCA with its Walls aged ’500 and the beautiful Villas, or Pisa with the famous leaning tower. Florence is only 50 km far, and it’s easy to reach it by train or by car. It is not less important the trekking on Apuane Mountains and Viareggio seaside. Do not forget the music! It is possible to reach the seaside city of ‘Torre del Lago’ to watch a ‘Boheme’ or ‘Mme Butterfly’ performance .

 

Since Vicopisano is a splendid medieval suburb, the best way to visit it is to walk along his narrow streets observing its wonderful monuments. This ancient Village is still maintaining an urban style dated ‘200 thanks to its medieval buildings completely preserved. This suburb lies on a low hill, once a river island, and you can enter in through the evocative “Tower of the four doors”, the last medieval door survived. Narrow streets, steps, widen streets are the ingredients of this suggestive atmosphere together with its architectural jewels like the Fortress designed by Filippo Brunelleschi ( see the picture), all the integral towers of ancient medieval Domus, The Pretorio Palace, The Town Hall.

Romanesque parishes are very important: S.Maria Parish, built out of tower walls in XII century , and S.Andrea and S.Iacopo Parishes, not far from historical centre
